Auricular Keloid Excision (Upper Helix)

Scar — Pongsak Clinic, Hua Hin

The patient presented with an unusually large, dumbbell-shaped keloid involving the upper helix and scaphoid fossa of the right ear. The lesion wrapped around both the anterior and posterior surfaces of the upper auricle, was firm and bulky, and significantly distorted the natural curve of the ear rim. Treatment was complete surgical excision under local anaesthesia, taking care to preserve the underlying ear cartilage and to reconstruct the helical contour with fine sutures. The follow-up photographs show a fully healed ear with the keloid removed, the helical rim restored, and only a fine residual scar along the closure line. Post-operative silicone therapy is used to reduce recurrence risk. Performed by Dr. Pongsak at Pongsak Clinic, Hua Hin.
